Privacy policy of the Pora app

Pora: cycle diary, version 1.0. Effective from the day of publication in the App Store. | Polski

Pora is available in Poland, in Polish. This page is a translation of the Polish version, which is binding if the two differ. The app itself is in Polish only, so the names of its screens and buttons are given below in Polish, with the English meaning.

In short: Pora does not collect your data and sends nothing anywhere. Your entries are on your phone (and in your iPhone backup, if you have one). The app has no accounts, no server, no ads and no analytics, and it does not connect to the internet.

If you choose to connect Pora to Apple Health, Pora can also save entries in Health. You and Apple manage those entries, according to your phone's settings. Details are below, in the "Apple Health" section.

Who is responsible for the app

The app is provided by Bartłomiej Paczesny as a private individual. Contact: bartek@paczesny.pl.

What you record and where it is kept

In the app you can record, among other things, your first name (if you give it), bleeding days, symptoms, mood, energy, sleep, notes, body temperature, results of your own tests, your stage (cycle, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause) with a due date or birth date, contraception method, medications and reminder times. This data is stored only in your iPhone's storage, in the app's area protected by iOS. We do not send it anywhere and we have no access to it.

Pora does not store data in iCloud Drive or CloudKit. It connects to Apple Health only if you turn that on (described below).

Apple Health

The connection to Apple Health is voluntary and off by default. You turn it on in the app: in "Ustawienia" (Settings), in the "Dane i prywatność" (Data and privacy) section, "Apple Zdrowie" (Apple Health), or on the "Przenieś swoją historię" (Bring over your history) screen, which opens when you choose "Mam dane w innej aplikacji" (I have data in another app) the first time you launch the app. Before Pora reads or writes anything in Health, iOS asks for your permission, and you choose which types of data Pora can access.

Reading from Apple Health. When you use it, Pora reads the history of these types of data from Health:

Pora saves the days it reads on your phone, in the same way as your own entries. If a day is already recorded in Pora, the Pora version stays. Pora skips entries that it previously wrote to Health itself. Reading happens when you start it; reading again adds only new days. Turning off reading in settings does not delete days that have already been brought over.

Writing to Apple Health. Pora writes to Health only when you turn on the "Zapis do Apple Zdrowie" (Write to Apple Health) switch, or "Zapisuj też do Apple Zdrowie" (Also write to Apple Health) on the import screen. It then writes your new entries of the same types of data: bleeding days with flow level and a mark for the start of a period, spotting, symptoms that have an equivalent in Health (list above), and body temperature. When you change or delete a day in Pora, Pora changes or deletes its own entry for that day in Health. After turning on writing you can also choose "Zapisz też historię" (Also write history) to write earlier days. Turning off writing stops new entries; entries that Pora has already written stay in Health.

Pora does not read or write mood, energy, notes, test results, sexual activity, contraception, medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding in Health.

Data passes between Pora and Health only on your phone, through iOS. Pora does not send it anywhere, does not use it for advertising and does not pass it to anyone. You and Apple manage the data in the Health app, according to your phone's settings (for example, syncing Health with iCloud). Apple's rules are described on the page given below, in the "Apple" section.

You can change or withdraw your permission at any time in the Health app: Profile, Apps, Pora. That is also where you can delete the data that Pora has written to Health.

Phone backup

If you have an iPhone backup turned on (in iCloud or on a computer), the system may include Pora's data in it, like the data of other apps, including days brought over from Apple Health. You and Apple manage that backup, according to your phone's settings. Thanks to it, your entries will survive a change of phone.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your phone (local notifications). Their content does not pass through any server. In settings you can turn on discreet content: the lock screen will then show only "Masz przypomnienie" (You have a reminder).

Face ID lock

The lock is handled by iOS. The app receives only information on whether the unlock succeeded. We have no access to biometric data or to your phone's passcode.

Apple

Downloading the app is handled by the App Store under Apple's terms. If, in your iPhone settings, you agree to share analytics data with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports and download statistics. These concern how the app works, not your entries. Apple's rules: apple.com/pl/legal/privacy (Polish page).

People under 16

Pora has a mode for teenagers. It works the same way as the rest of the app: entries stay on the phone and we do not pass them to anyone.

How to delete your data

You can delete all entries in the app: "Ustawienia" (Settings), "Dane i prywatność" (Data and privacy), "Usuń wszystkie dane" (Delete all data), then "Usuń wszystko" (Delete everything). Deleting the app from your phone also deletes its data (except the phone backup, which you manage in iPhone settings). We do not keep any copy, so you do not need to ask us for anything.

Neither "Usuń wszystkie dane" (Delete all data) nor deleting the app from your phone deletes the entries that Pora wrote to Apple Health: those copies stay in Health. You can delete them in the Health app: Profile, Apps, Pora. It is simplest to do this before deleting Pora from your phone.

Correspondence

If you email us, we use your address and the content of your message only to reply. We delete the message no later than 12 months after the conversation ends. We do not pass it to anyone.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to correct it and to delete it. The data in the app is on your phone and you manage it yourself. For matters concerning correspondence, write to the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, uodo.gov.pl).

Changes

If a later version of the app changes what happens to your data (for example through a new feature), we will update this page before releasing that version and describe the change in the app.

Important

Pora is a cycle and wellbeing diary. It is not for contraception, planning a pregnancy or diagnosis. For health matters, consult a doctor.
